This week on Facebook, someone shared a video on their page that made me want to call him just to tell him I liked what he was saying.
For those who aren’t familiar with Facebook, a “call” is a video that people are not allowed to use on their page. Facebook has a “permission” system in place that allows people to send a message to people on the page, but a “call” is a completely different thing. These messages are allowed to remain private on the page, but it’s up to the person who receives them to either send them or remove them.
The problem here is that Facebook is really hard to get into. Anyone you talk to on the phone or via IM/text message can see everything you post. You’ve got to be careful when you’re on a Facebook call because if you’re talking about what the other person is doing, you can get into trouble.
I think it is easy to get into trouble here too. Like most social media sites, Facebook allows you to “lock” the other person’s profile and “unlock” it at any time. If you post something about a party you’re at, for example, that would be considered spam. If you post something that could be construed as offensive, you could get banned. So be careful on Facebook.

I think this is why I am such a fan of Facebook. Because I can keep track of who I’ve called and what theyve said, and who I haven’t called and what they’ve said. Plus, there’s a good chance that I’ll get to hear some interesting news/interview/comment/rant/whatever over the phone.
So if you get onto Facebook and think youve called someone, be sure to check their profile and profile page. You might be right, and they might not be on the call, but you could be mistaken. Youll get a notification if youve called them, but there are a lot of other “whoops” that could be lurking in there too.
I think I would be best off avoiding facebook at all costs. It is a social networking site that does a good job of keeping people from getting into trouble, but I don’t think that it works very well when it comes to keeping people from calling people and giving them bad news.
I think you can tell if someone is on a facebook call by simply seeing if there is a number. There are tons of apps out there that can do this, but I use the official app on my phone. The only downside is that it only shows the number if you are on the phone with the person you are calling.
Facebook keeps track of your number, but there are some apps out there that can determine if you are calling your friend, or if a friend is calling you. There are a few to choose from.
