We see it all the time with people, but in the beginning I think we don’t know it. We think we are just being lazy when we actually don’t like what we are doing. I’ve always been a huge fan of a lot of fitness stuff, but the constant thought that you are doing something wrong and you need to change your lifestyle is something that gets me every time. It is a constant battle to change our behaviors.
I have a friend who is a very big fan of a lot of different things, including fitness (and it’s hard not to, because we’re all so addicted to it). He’s always talked about how we should just start doing something, and not just doing something until it’s the most perfect thing we’ve ever done. And it is just that struggle.
I try to keep myself from becoming one of those people who never feels like they are doing something right. But I have to admit, I sometimes just don’t know what to do, so I tend to throw my hands up and say, “I’m just doing it anyway.” You can do it if you want to. That is your right. And you are allowed to fail.
We are all going to fail. Sometimes we tend to think that we are doing something right, and we are just doing it wrong. But life’s just not that simple, and we all have to make choices every day. There’s no such thing as perfect. But that does not have to be the case. For people who believe that they are doing something right and are doing it wrong, there is always a way to get back on track.
That is what big ox energy is about. People who believe that they are doing something right and are doing it wrong are often times so caught up in how they are doing something that they forget that they are doing something right. All it takes is an example to show them that they are wrong and that they are wrong to change their ways. It’s all about showing people that they are wrong, but in a way that they are right.
Right and wrong is a spectrum, because right and wrong are not always black and white. In fact, the spectrum of right and wrong is a continuum. We can all go back and forth from being right and still being wrong, to being right and still being wrong. Just because you are right doesn’t mean that you are wrong.
I think the big ox energy is a good example of that continuum. In this case the ox was a big, angry, stubborn, arrogant ox who was trying to show everyone that he was right and everyone else should be wrong.
Sometimes I feel like I’m a lot like the ox in this example. I don’t necessarily want to be right. I just want to try to be more than I am now. After a certain amount of time though, when I don’t want to be right, I just try to be right. It’s not always easy, but I try to keep it. Just because I want to be right doesn’t mean I’m always right.
I’m a big fan of the quote from Steve Jobs that “the most important person in the world is you” because it reminds me that I should be more aware of how much I really do want to be right. I’m not sure Apple would have gone so far as to build a whole new company around this quote, but I wouldve liked to see a little more self awareness from them.
